There is no account to recover and no password to reset: duna has neither.
Questions that come up most
How do I install a language?
The first time you open duna, it suggests your device's language and shows how big it is. Nothing is downloaded until you tap Download. Later you can add others from the bar at the bottom: tap the gear, then Language, on iPhone and on Mac. Each language takes between 120 and 190 MB and comes from Apple's servers. You only need a connection that first time.
A language won't download, or the download stalls
Check that you are online and have enough free space (about 200 MB per language), and try again. If it still fails, restart the device. On a Mac that had an earlier version of the app, delete it, restart, and install duna again from the App Store.
How do I delete a language?
In the language list: on iPhone, tap Edit and then Delete, or open a language and choose Delete from iPhone. The space is freed at once and you can download it again whenever you like.
It isn't hearing anything
duna needs permission to use the microphone. On iPhone, open Settings › duna and turn on Microphone. On Mac, open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone and turn on duna. On Mac you can also choose which microphone it uses: gear in the bar › Microphone.
It makes a lot of mistakes
It is an automatic transcription, and it works better the clearer the sound: bring the device closer to whoever is speaking, avoid background noise and, if you can, have one person speak at a time. Also check that the language it is listening to is the one being spoken. Galician and Basque (New) are the most recent and make more mistakes. If you find an error that keeps coming back, write to us with an example: it helps us fix it.
Where is my text when I close the app?
duna does not keep the text once it closes: that is on purpose, for privacy. To keep it, export it before closing, with the share icon at the top right (on Mac also ⌘E): as text (.txt), Markdown (.md) or subtitles (.srt).
How do I make subtitles for a video?
On iPhone, tap the gallery icon at the top left and choose a video from Photos or Files, or share the video to duna from another app. On Mac, use the gallery icon, ⌘O, or drop the file on the window. Choose the language and duna makes an .srt file on the device. A 15-minute episode takes under a minute on a recent Mac, and somewhat longer on an iPhone.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once a language is downloaded, everything works without the internet, in Airplane Mode too.
Can I use it with Shortcuts or from Control Center?
Yes. The Shortcuts app has actions to start and stop transcribing, get the text, save it to a file, change the language and make subtitles for a video. On iPhone you can also add duna's button to Control Center, the Lock Screen or the Action button.
What devices do I need?
An iPhone with iOS 26 or later, or a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 26 or later.
Does it replace a captioning service?
No. duna is an aid, not a hearing aid or a professional captioning service. Do not rely on it where a mistake could be serious. The Terms of Use explain this.
Your voice stays on your device
duna sends no audio or text anywhere, has no accounts and collects no data. The Privacy Policy says so in full.
