duna for iPhone and Mac · effective 30 September 2026

duna collects no data. No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking of any kind. Your voice, your text and your videos are processed on the device itself and are never sent anywhere.

What data is collected

None. duna has no sign-in, no user profile and no server behind it. It contains no analytics, advertising or attribution code, and it makes no internet connections of its own. This is the same answer given in the App Store's privacy questionnaire, where every category is marked Data Not Collected.

The microphone and your voice

duna uses the microphone only when you ask it to listen (and, on Mac, while the microphone picker is open, to show its level), and your iPhone or Mac shows its own microphone indicator. The sound is turned into text on the device, in memory: no audio is ever written to a file, and none is sent to us or to anyone else. When you stop listening, the sound still held in memory is discarded.

To start a new paragraph when someone else speaks, duna analyses the sound to detect that the voice has changed. It does not identify who is speaking, creates no voiceprint and keeps nothing from this analysis: it only decides where each paragraph begins.

Your text

The transcript lives in the app's memory while the app is open and disappears when you close it. It leaves the app only if you export, copy or share it, and then it goes exactly where you send it, under the terms of the app or service you choose.

Videos and recordings

If you ask duna to make subtitles for a video or a recording, the file you choose is read on the device. The app may make a temporary copy inside its own storage, which is deleted when the job ends or, at the latest, the next time the app opens. The subtitle file you save or share goes where you choose. No video, audio or subtitle is sent anywhere.

The languages you download

Each language is a data pack (a speech model and, for some languages, a punctuation model) that Apple hosts and delivers through the App Store. The download is made by Apple's system, not by us, and is covered by Apple's privacy policy. We receive no information about who downloads what.

What is stored on your device

Only the app's preferences and the languages you have installed:

• the interface language and the language you listen to;
• the text size and typeface, the theme (light or dark) and the display options;
• the microphone you chose and your preferred export format;
• whether you have finished the welcome screens;
• the language packs you have downloaded.

All of this stays in the app's own storage on your device and is never transmitted. You can delete a language from the app's language list, and delete everything by deleting the app.

Shortcuts, Control Center and the Share menu

The actions in the Shortcuts app, the Control Center button and duna's entry in the Share menu all work on the device. When you share a video with duna, the file is copied into the app's shared storage on your device so that duna can open it; it does not leave the device.

Crash reports

duna sends no crash reports of its own. If you have chosen in your device's settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may pass anonymous crash reports and usage statistics on to us. We use them only to fix faults.

Third parties

The app shares no data with anyone, because it collects none. The only third party involved is Apple, which distributes the app and hosts the languages. The two third parties this website involves (the company that hosts it and the one that carries our email) are described below.

This website

These pages are static files. They set no cookies and contain no scripts, and the site's security policy stops browsers from running any. They load nothing from anybody else's server and carry no analytics or tracking of any kind.

The pages are hosted by Netlify, which, like every web server, records the technical details of each request (IP address, time, page requested, browser version) as part of serving the site and keeping it secure. We do not use those logs to build profiles and we do not combine them with anything else. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in delivering and securing these pages (article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Writing to us

If you write to info@uriocallaghan.com we process what you send (your email address, your name if you sign it, and whatever you tell us) for the single purpose of answering you. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us (article 6(1)(f) GDPR). The mailbox is hosted by Hostinger, which stores the messages on our behalf and does nothing else with them.

Support messages are kept for twelve months from the last reply and are then deleted, unless a message forms part of a legal claim, in which case it is kept until the claim is closed. Nothing you write is used for marketing or shared with anyone.

Your rights

The app holds no personal data of yours to access, correct, export or erase, because it collects none and nothing reaches us. For this site's server log and any email you send us, you have the rights the GDPR gives you: to ask what we hold, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable form. Write to info@uriocallaghan.com and you will have an answer within one month.

The data controller is Oriol O'Callaghan, whose full identification details are in the legal notice. There is no automated decision-making and no profiling. Our mail provider is established in the European Union; our host, Netlify, is a United States company, so the request log it keeps on our behalf may be processed there, under the standard contractual clauses in its data processing terms.

If you think your data has been handled badly you can complain to the Spanish supervisory authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, or to the authority of the EU country you live in.

Children

Nothing is collected from anybody, so nothing is collected from children. The app has no social, messaging or user-generated content features.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the new version appears on this page with a new effective date. A change that materially affects you would also be noted in the app's release notes.
